I went into this movie expecting very little and I was still disappointed. I quite understand, as an avid reader, that the movie will always be very different from the book. Most often, the movie still portrays the important information, and manages to be entertaining for the vast majority of viewers.
This just wasn't the case. The story was excellent, and not drastically changed, but nothing flowed. My major problem seemed to lie within the acting of the lead characters. Edward was actually quite good, less the fact that he came across as very arrogant, and seemed to be laughing at half of his lines. Bella, on the other hand, lacked any emotion whatsoever. At no point do they seem like they are in love. Bella just looks angry all the time. I think that this ruins the focus of the movie.
I am hoping that the director learns a few things about putting together a quality movie, and our leads learn to portray their roles a bit better as the plot progresses and things get more serious. I would hate to see a disconnected Bella in future movies.

Basically what i feel it comes down to is a poor director. The movie moved very fast. The "romancing" section of the movie was fast and confusing if you have not read the book. It was like, hello, my name is Edward I am a vampire, and Bella falls in love with him right away. Many of the lines were horribly delivered. Now, I don't know if this is the actors fault or more the directors visions of the scene. The scene with edward and bella in the forest and him shouting "as if you could catch me. left me and my friends feeling awkward at the strange acting. This was only one of the scenes that left us like that. And it was at these points that made us laugh because, how else were we to respond? In my own personal opinion, I feel like some of the actors were poorly cast. I did not like Bella. She seemed to have one face as well as no inflections to her voice. I was also expecting more from Robert Pattinson. For me he was a disappointment, being overly dramatic all the time. The famous biology scene was ridiculous, with him covering his nose and making faces. I thought Edward was rigid and stone faced. Though this could have been due to the director of course. br> I am going on and on, so let me finish up. Overall, the movie was over-dramatic and poorly directed in my opinion. There were some good parts, i found James to be refreshing compared to all the other actors.
I would not suggest to go see this movies in the theatre. Maybe rent it if you are really curious. br> I had really hoped more out of this movie. I believe that if they change the director, they could really change it around, and add better special effects as well.
